Who is this?

A big seagull and a small deer right near the lighthouse. We have seen many deer on our tours. Our visitors always are quite amazed the deer can swim. We have seen evidence of owls by finding owl pellets. The seagull chicks are getting quite large now and the gulls, both herring gulls and black back gulls have been very successful in their reproductive efforts this year. The raspberries have also been very prolific.

2008 Tours include the chance to climb the tower.

The very first visitors to ascend the tower are newlyweds

Amy and Sean Musick. Amy is Granddaughter of Judy MacGillivray, Secretary of the Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse Executive Committee. The couple will reside in Texas but plan on comming back to visit Wood Island as often as possible. Amy had been to the island many times as a young person - and now shares it with her husband. Congratulations Sean and Amy!

Capture the Coast is a success!

Many thanks to our artists, bidders, sponsors, the Nonantum Resort and volunteers for making our art auction a resounding success. The event cleared just under $16000 which will go toward the restoration efforts.
