Flagpole Camera Camera is Off-line
The flagpole camera is mounted on the Wood Island Light flagpole, and captures the full profile of the lighthouse. Viewers of the camera may watch the ocean waves beyond the lighthouse, passing boats, seagulls, and summer tour groups or FOWIL volunteers hard at work. When the tower restoration begins, viewers will be able to watch the progress of the restoration. (Requires Quicktime 7 Player)
Tower Camera Camera is Off-line
The tower camera is located in the back bedroom on the second floor of the keeper's house. The view out of the window provides a close-up view of the lighthouse tower, and the connecting hallway between the tower and the keeper's house. This eastward facing camera provides views of the open Atlantic Ocean beyond the tower. Watch for passing boat traffic and for morning sun rises above the distant horizon.
Hills Beach Camera
The Hills Beach Camera provides a broad view of Winter Harbor with Wood Island in the background. Watch the flash of the light at twilight and the boat traffic in the harbor. Keep a sharp eye open for FOWIL's boat the "Lightrunner" as she conducts tour groups and work parties to the island during the summer months. ( Macintosh computers may not be able to view this webcam: See Webcam Help)
The Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse hopes that you enjoy our new webcams, and their ability to allow quests to view the lighthouse year-round from anywhere in the world. FOWIL would like to thank the generous financial and technical support of all those who made this webcam upgrade possible.
A limited number of users may view the webcam at one time, so please limit your viewing time.
