200 Birthday Party
The Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse celebrated Wood Island Light's 200th Birthday on August 17th, 2008 at Hattie's restaurant in Biddeford Pool. A picturesque afternoon was spent enjoying live irish music provided by the band Shannachie, outdoors next to the waves of Biddeford Pool. Food and refreshments provided by Hattie's was enjoyed by all. The event ended with the cutting of the birthday cake and watching the sun falling behind the anchored boats in Biddeford Pool.
For 200 years Wood Island Light has been a beacon for all of Saco Bay. For the past five years the Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse have been working to preserve and restore this great lighthouse, so that it may see another 100 years of lighting Saco Bay.
