PLEASE
CHECK BACK IN JULY AND AUGUST 2008!
Thanks to all of you who
came to Wood Island and enjoyed our 2007 tours. We
enjoyed sharing this unique place with you.
A tour
to Wood Island Lighthouse is run by the Friends of Wood
Island Lighthouse, an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
The lighthouse is located off the coast of Biddeford
Maine and tours leave from Vine's Landing in Biddeford
Pool. The guided tour takes about 1 1/2 hours and is
subject to Mother Nature and her weather and sea
conditions.
When are
the tours?
The tours are held in July and August.
How do I
get on a tour?
Call the reservation line (207 286-3229) any
Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for tours each week.
Calling other days is by chance. This line is handled
entirely by volunteers.
Do
current FOWIL members get tour priority?
Yes, they may make reservations a week in advance.
What is
the price of the boat ride and tour?
There is no fixed charge for the boat-ride
and tour. However, donations are encouraged (suggested
minimum $10/person) and gratefully accepted, all
donations going to the cost of running the boat and the
ultimate mission of restoring Wood Island Lighthouse.
This is a long term and costly endeavor that is most
worthwhile, as we are confident you will agree,
especially after you experience Wood Island Lighthouse in
person by means of a FOWIL tour.
How do I
get there?
Drive to Vine's Landing in Biddeford Pool.
